1. SSE Research Prize

This award is designed to encourage research in dental sciences with relevance to endodontology and consists of a cash price (SFr. 3000.--) and certificate. Evidence must be presented that the nominee has conducted original innovative research involving basic or clinical investigations of significance to endodontology. The work considered for the award must have been published in a peer reviewed journal not fewer than 3 years prior to the time of nomination.

2. Guldener Endodontic Prize

This award is to honor the late Dr. Peter H.A. Guldener who had been the spokesman of endodontics in Switzerland for the last three decades, eminent endodontic practitioner, educator, motivating force, founding member and the first president of the SSE. The award shall consist of a cash stipend (SFr. 5000.--) and a plaque to be presented annually at the SSE meetings, provided a worthy recipient is nominated. The recipient must have contributed significantly to the advancement endodontics and must be based in Switzerland. The award is for achievement of outstanding quality in the field of endodontic research or of significant contribution in endodontic education, clinical practice and/or professional organization. There are no age restrictions. However, posthumous nominations are not solicited.

Nominating Regulations

Call for nominations for the awards shall be announced in the SSO (Schweizer Monatsschrift fur Zahnmedizin). The SSE Scientific Committee has the responsibility of selecting the awardees from the respective panels of candidates. If a member of the Committee happens to be a nominee, then she/he must temporarily withdraw from the selection committee and be replaced by another member of the Executive Board. The nominations can be submitted by the candidates themselves or by any other dental researchers, educationists or practitioners in Switzerland or by an SSE member stationed abroad. The decision of the SSE Scientific Committee regarding the selection of the awardees will be final and cannot be appealed. Once a nomination is made, it shall be considered each year for a period of four years unless the nominee is selected for an award during that period. The nomination expires after the fourth year if a re-nomination is not received.
